Carol Sturgeleski was awarded a blue ribbon for her challah bread.
The “Peoples’ Choice Award” went to Richard and Robin Chin for their raisin walnut sweet loaf.
There were two ribbons awared to young bakers. Aaron Wise and Natty Wise won a blue ribbon for their chocolate chip bread. A different young baker won a ribbon for cinnamon bread.
The plaque for “Best Bread” was awarded to the Old Milwaukee Rye Bread made by David S. Cargo.
This was our first-ever bake-off, and we did not have any system in place for recording the winners like we did in later events.
I wish this first year had been better recorded, but I did the best I could at the time.
