1. Baking With the St. Paul Bread Club-Kim Ode

The St. Petersburg Times had a brief review of the cookbook. (They did get the number of pages in the book quite wrong.)

The Taste section in the StarTribune on October 19 had a front-page article about Baking with the Saint Paul Bread Club, including several pictures (some color, some black and white, the book's cover, and the group picture from the cookbook) and three recipes.

There was an accompanying article by Klecko on starting your own bread club.

This article led to a five-fold increase to our normal web traffic, and about fifty extra people showing up at the quarterly meeting.

While the StarTribune has covered the book, the Pioneer Press has not. They have published some notices (one with the wrong address), but why ignore a book so tied to Saint Paul?

I bought two copies from Magers & Quinn.

When I showed a copy to the man at the register of Orr Books, he said he would order a copy for his store.

Kim Ode was interviewed on Showcase Minnesota on 10/03/06, and there's a web page and a video that you can watch (click on the "Watch the Video" link).

If you know where other copies might be found, let me know and I'll add a link here.

Kim has made at least two other TV appearances, but I don't have the details.

An article about the book and interviews with Kim Ode, David S. Cargo, Susan Steger Welch, and Ron Miller appeared on page 12 the October issue of Avenues, which is distributed for free in parts of Saint Paul by Villager Communications.

A substantially similar article appeared in the mid-October issue of the Villager, with an additional picture.

Congratulations for the article, "S.D. native's book shares stories from a bread-making club," in the Argus Leader.

Kim Ode's cookbook based on recipes from members of the SPBC is coming; the title is Baking with the St. Paul Bread Club: Recipes, Tips and Stories. (The page at the Minnesota Historical Society Press is here.) The official publication date is Sept. 18. Apparently, in practice, there will be copies available in time for the state fair. cookbook cover
